Department of Security

Let’s face it…you can have the most beautiful email message on the planet, but if your deliverability stinks, then your campaign success is akin to rowing a boat to shore with one paddle or embarking on a road trip with leaky tires, or…ok, you get the drift.
So what does Mail Dog do to help ensure good deliverability and client security? Turns out a lot. One of the most important aspects of good deliverability is keeping, what’s called “clean servers.” This means that we don’t just let any Tom, Dick or Harry generate an account and upload any list into the system that YOUR account shares. We work hard to screen and educate all clients on good permission email strategies. Plus, we run a pretty tight ship when it comes to maintaining excellent technical infrastructure.
There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most of our clients will never see such as abuse monitoring, server monitoring, ISP relations, reputation monitoring, deliverability audits and keeping up-to-date on all technology shifts and ISP infrastructure changes and requirements. But, we can’t do it alone! It’s a team effort and one that requires our clients to likewise educate themselves (with our help) and to maintain good list management practices.

We tend to error on the side of conservatism when it comes to security. After all, we’re the custodian’s of our clients’ data, not to mention our own. We want everyone to sleep well at night! {ANDRIAN | Founding Partner / Director of Information Systems}
Here’s an overview of our infrastructure all clients have at their back (whether they know it or not!):
Clean, Screened Servers
New accounts are screened to ensure legitimacy and standard permission email practices. Keep deliverability and server reputations high by actively monitoring black lists, ISP blocking or any abnormal performance metrics. Of course, prevention is always king and so client education programs are actively promoted.
Whitelisting
Relationships with ISPs are established and white-listing protocols and applications are generated and maintained to ensure good communication and deliverability.
ISP Relationships
Departments maintain communication and relationships with ISPs and ensure feedback loops and other deliverability requirements are maintained and nurtured, which keeps deliverability and reputation high in the space.
Abuse Department
Despite good intentions, complaints can sometimes be generated. When this is the case, the Abuse Department steps in to work closely with the various entities involved to quickly address and resolve the issue. They’re like your good-will ambassadors of the internet space.
Security Detection
Our team of technical super heroes keeps a close watch on their domain to keep out any unwanted hackers or other villains of the virtual world. You can rest easy that your account and data is secure.
Back-ups
Like any good technical infrastructure, back-ups are just good practice and prevention against misfortune. Your lists and account data are secure (doubly so).
Optional Technical Infrastructure Client Services

Clients can also take advantage of optional technical infrastructure services to further enhance their deliverability with optional certification programs (through our partner Return Path); SPF Record assignments; Domain Key Configuration; and DKIM Configuration. Our teams will help consult the best possible configuration for your needs and guide the implementation.
